[心] heart plant ~ 

A while back, there was this girl—who i’ll just refer to as “J” here for the sake of whatevers—that i’d met online and then hit up a coupla cafés with, and we talked about stuff and such.  I think it was around that time that i’d drawn my first ball-point and then vector versions of my current signature character, the mad cyborg-bunny telcihc.  I’d found her attractive; meanwhile, perhaps i’d seen a heart anatomy-illustration somewhere online, with all the ventricles, atriums, pulmonary arteries, and various other cardiovascular goodies…and somehow arrived at the idea of a stylized-yet-quasi-anatomical heart with a plant sprouting out of it.

A growing affection, perhaps?  Such were my feelings, perhaps, though nothing particularly intense.  Having been single again for a few years by that time (which tends to be my constant state of being, ha…  o_O ), the freshness of it was something to take delight in.  But one way or another, it seemed like the idea would be a fun image to realize.  So after finding some anatomical heart reference images online and doing a rough sketch or three by hand in ball-point, i pumped out (pun sort of  intended) the above illustration in adobe illustrator with my trusty wacom stylus & tablet.  Soon after completion, i’d emailed J the image with a with a simple message of something along the lines of “thought of this after we met up; figured it would be fun to draw.”  Nothing too overt, at least not in my opinion. Apparently it freaked her out, or at least elicited a back-away-slowly response.  Meh, wasn’t meant to be…but i’ll take inspiration where i can find it.  And i ended up with an illustration of a freakish, ficticious plant about which to write some silly blog.  Maybe i’ll tweak the heart design and eventually use it as a boss or something in my w-i-p flash game sometime in the future.
